Children’s Theatre

Theatre is such a powerful tool for children, of all ages. It sparks their imagination, and helps them see the world in new ways. It  teaches confidence, compassion, collaboration and how to take on different perspectives. It can enhance language development and expand their vocabulary.

Theatre acts as a window to different cultures and at times teaches them the history of their own country, in their own regions therefore making it especially important in rural communities. It can give the children a sense of  travelling without ever having to leave their own towns, their own villages. If we want to help our children build a stronger sense of their own history then theatre is a powerful tool in doing so.

In Molise our history is unique and deep in traditions, but can easily be lost when we don’t teach them to the next generation. Therefore by presenting plays, readings etc. it encourages our children to grow a sense of pride in their own local traditions, folklore and to know and understand others. It can broaden horizons, and at the very same time keep them connected to what makes Molise so special.

We are in conversation with performing artists from Teatro Elvira in Campobasso and are trying to develop a programme for our children to experience theatre, in their own villages.
